Service LearningOur service learning initiative provides students and adults with an opportunity to listen, learn, and serve alongside our partners in the field. This experience epitomizes our two-fold approach to global poverty, emphasizing both development and advocacy. Participants have included high school students, college students, and adults in the community. Two huge factors are encouraging the popularity and effectiveness of service learning opportunities in the United States: the aging Baby Boomer population and the tech-savvy youth of Generation Y. Both groups are highly active in volunteer efforts and intensely curious about the world. Service learning represents the intersection of action and education, and it is a valuable tool for creating and sustaining activists in the fight against global poverty. |
