Emily RuppelPosition: Development Coordinator (Impacts & Accountability) Involved since: November 2008 Bio Information: Emily Ruppel is an M.A. candidate in International Development at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. She is also pursuing a certificate in Global Health Affairs, with particular interest in village health worker programs. Emily is currently a Development Coordinator for The 1010 Project, with a focus on impact assessment and monitoring and evaluation of partner projects in Kenya. Emily has a B.A. in International Affairs from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Following the completion of undergraduate studies, she went to Kenya as a Peace Corps Volunteer and worked in the central region of the country in a small rural village. As a PCV, she focused mainly on projects related to public health, women’s empowerment, microfinance, and youth education. Emily is very interested in the practice of grassroots development and was drawn to The 1010 Project based upon their mission of poverty eradication and practice of working directly with the poor to instigate positive change. Aside from East Africa, she is also interested in Central America and enjoys traveling to both regions. In her spare time, she enjoys running, hiking and snowboarding. |
