Statement of Purpose: Meeting the educational needs of impoverished children in the Quarry slum of Nairobi.

Needs/Beneficiaries: Fair Oaks School and the church associated with it are doing their best to keep up with rising food and fuel costs in Kenya.

Income-Generating Activities:

  • Embroidery training program producing bed covers and tablecloths
  • Business support groups
  • Tailoring, dressmaking

Impacts: The primary school has grown from 200 students to 250, and over 50 men and women have graduated from the embroidery training program.

Testimonial: Most of the people who live in these slums have no steady sources of income and therefore have no steady means of livelihood. We want to empower the young people with employment and provide for the basic education of young people living in poverty – Brown Chavaseki
