Statement of Purpose: To encourage self-acceptance and acceptance by others of HIV-positive members of the community, to help orphans and vulnerable children, and to provide microfinance opportunities to start small businesses.
Needs/Beneficiaries: Tumaini Pamoja works in the Korogocho slum of Nairobi, and has a small amount of land available for crop harvesting. HIV-positive community members are usually stigmatized. Tumaini Pamoja is working to break that stigma.
Income Generating Activities:
- Selling soap
- Vegetable farming
- Perfume sales
- Charcoal sales
Impacts: Tumaini Pamoja provides around 70 microloans a year to enable members to start their own income-generating activities.
