What is The 1010 Project?
The 1010 Project is a nonprofit organization based out of Denver, CO. 1010 builds relationships and partnerships with creative and innovative people throughout the world, learning and working together to break the cycle of poverty for life.
What does The 1010 Project do?
The 1010 Project provides income generating grants to indigenous development partners in Kenya and raises awareness on behalf of the global poor in the United States.
Who supports The 1010 Project?
The 1010 Project is made up of relationships and communities around the world from every walk of life. 1010 connects with communities in rural Kenya and Nairobi. 1010 has three active college campus groups on Missouri State University, the University of Missouri-Columbia, and Colorado Christian University. As a Denver nonprofit, we are focused on building up this local community through various events and activities.
Are you a micro-finance organization?
Micro-finance is one income generating activity that 1010 partners use in developing the economy in Kenya.
What is the difference between you and an organization like Kiva?
Unlike any other organization, 1010 connects resource with need in the context of friendship. Many organizations offer a hand out, others a hand up, 1010 offers a helping hand.
What does the name mean?
The name 1010 Project was formed from the biblical verse, John 10:10, where Jesus stated, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” The 1010 Project is not a faith-based organization but we believe all people within all religions deserve this life.
Where are your offices located?
Our offices are located just a block off I-25 on Washington. More specifically we are located at Mississippi and Washington or 1101 S Washington St in Denver, Colorado. If you are interested in visiting us or taking a tour of the office, please email mark@the1010project.org or call 720.253.8426 to be let in.
Where in Kenya do you work?
We partner with social entrepreneurs in many different parts of Nairobi, including the Kibera and Kayole slums. We also have partners located in rural Kenya.
Can I volunteer my time with The 1010 Project?

Are you a 501c3 organization?
The 1010 Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization under the regulations of the Internal Revenue Service. All contributions to 1010 are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.
Why is your mailing address in Lafayette, CO?
We are currently based out of Denver because the Denver Community Church gave us the opportunity use some of their office space. In order to avoid confusion for our donors and other mailing contacts, we will be keeping our PO Box in Lafayette.
How is 1010 related to international agreements like the MDGs?
1010 endorses the MDGs. Our local partners which are schools, orphanages, microfinance institutions, women’s empowerment groups, and HIV/AIDs support groups work to achieve the MDGs each and every day.
What if I am a corporation that would like to get involved?

Currently we are looking for sponsors for our 2008 Benefit Dinner. The event will be Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Renaissance Boulder Suites at Flatiron.
