Katrina JohnsonPosition: Trustee Member since: Spring 2010 Bio Information: Katrina was born and raised in Northwest Ohio, but has had an interest in other cultures for as long as she can remember. As a junior in high school, she spent a year in Brussels, Belgium as an exchange student. She later continued her international studies in college by studying French and spending a semester in Tours, France. While the educational experiences in Belgium and France where significant, it was Katrina’s first trip to Africa that truly began to change the way she saw the world. During the summer of her senior year of college, Katrina spent two months working in and traveling through Gabon. This experience led to her seeking out opportunities to volunteer in Guatemala and Cuba as well. Having the opportunity to be a part of the 1010 Project is very exciting for Katrina. The organization’s focus on developing long-term relationships is something that has been missing from Katrina’s prior volunteer experiences. Katrina’s professional background is eclectic. After college, she worked in corporate sales for several years. Following her stint in corporate America, she spent two years working for an urban, after-school program for junior high and high school girls. Finally, after much soul searching, she decided to attend law school. Currently, she is pursuing a career in the field of law. Katrina and her dog Ellie have recently relocated to the Denver from Washington, DC. In her spare time she enjoys reading and exploring new areas. As a new Colorado resident, she is also developing a love for the Mountains and hiking, something that is very foreign to a girl from the flatlands of Ohio. Katrina holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology with a double major in French from Bowling Green State University and a Juris Doctorate from the George Washington University School of Law. |
